Music Studio Help?

I know what I do I will be attending Berklee music production in January. I love the most my computer before starting. What are some of the basic elements that I can buy now? If anyone has a good website to buy what I gladly thank you. Also, what good is a keyboard purchase? I have a very old man and have keyboard keyboards ads are now better than ever. Plzzzz HELP ME ….

You have made a very broad question, which depends entirely on what kind of music you are doing, the size of your room and your experience with stereo. Some people are totally PC-based music software plug ins synthesizer bound together with a sequencer like Logic, Cubase, SONAR, FL Studio, etc. Some people make music with just a keyboard that has its own sequencer built in. I would suggest that if the space is minimal can use modules that are synthesized without keys and sounds can be activated through a computer. I produce drum & bass, techno and house. The best way to find out what the keyboards and modules to achieve is go to your local music store and just play with them or just google a bit of game and find reviews on them, that way you know how versatile a piece equipment is and how well it fits your complete review. How can I stop a loud buzzing sound coming accross my home audio system?

My pc is connected to three different stereo recievers in my home so I can listen to MP3s playing on my pc whether I’m in the bedroom, basement, or family room. All are fine, accept the one in the family room. When it is connected and turned on, there is an annoying buzz that comes accross on the entire system. How do I make it stop?

There could be several causes, but it sound like a ground loop problem. I’m curious as to how your connecting your PC to three different receivers. Maybe your not doing the sound card audio output distribution properly.
I recommend reading the Rane not below as your problem is most likely addressed there.

Connecting my home theather system…HELP!!!?

Good day everyone. I am currently revamping my theater system and I am wondering how best to connect all of this together. Here is the list:
1) 50″ Panasonic plasma with 2 HDMI connectors, 1 optical, 2 component, 1 S-Video
2) Samsung BP-1600 Blue Ray player with 1 HDMI, 1 component, 1 optical, and 1 analog audio
3) Comcast cable HD/DVR box with HDMI connection, component, optical
4) Yamaha RX-V765 Receiver and speakers with a bunch of HDMI connections and everything else.

Questions about satellite radio. XM or Sirius?

I am looking to buy my husband satellite radio for his car for Xmas. I have never owned it before and I know NOTHING about it. I do not want to spend more than $200. Here are the details: He has an older car, therefore the receiver part would have to plug in to the lighter. He really likes sports radio and classic rock. I would like the receiver part to be portable (not sure if thats possible) so he can plug into our home stereo. My question is, is XM the way to go or Sirius, and is this possible for $200 or less? Also, would Best Buy be the best place to go? Thanks for ANY info on this.

Can I convert speaker wire to a subwoofer cable?

About a year ago I purchased a home theater package that included a receiver and 5.1 speakers. In that package the subwoofer was connected by regular speaker wire. Now I bought a new receiver but it doesn’t have connections that allow me to connect my sub to the receiver using speaker wire, it only has a single cable input for the sub. Can I convert speaker cable to fit this connection? Or will I have to buy an all new sub?

I live in AZ, home AC compressor in direct 115 d heat all day, making it run longer. How can I keep it cool?

I hear of poeple putting up screens in some way to keep sun from beating down on the compressor all day. I also have heard people setting up misters to spray on the AC unit. What have you done? My electric bill for a small house, two poeple, brand new house was $300 last month.

yes, a/c units basicly move the heat from inside your house to outside your house. you should try shading it and it would not hurt to have some water misting the coil on the outside. it is definitly pocible to make one yourself. just connect a solinoid valve up to the wires that power the condencers fan. connect it to a garden hose and run a copper pipe with small holes in it around the outside of the unit. the condencer pulls air in past the radiator coil(that surrounds most of the unit) and blows it out from the fan. wetting the coil will help take(evaporate) heat away from the coil. you can get a solinoid valve from any appliance part store. they put them in things like fridges(ice maker and water on the door) dishwashers and washing machines(turns water on and off electronicly)
