Blocking a manufactures home?

I am trying to get the guidelines for blocking a 12×60 mobile home. (the blocks under the home) not the foundation. Can any show me where the blocks go to pass inspection?

Ok, if you mean the support blocks then:

If you bought the home from a dealership, they should have provided you with that schematic. If you bought it from an individual… they probably have it in with their homeowners paperwork.

Here is the general rule of thumb tho:
Stacks at the end need to be no more than 2 feet from the end of the steel frame.
Each stack can not be more than 10 feet from each other… and most manufacturers prefer 8ft on center.
Each stack should consist of cement blocks, 2 wide, usually 2 blocks high (alternate the direction of the blocks, if bottom stack is aligned lengthwise to the home, then the next course will be crosswise, and so on)
At the top of each stack, you should have a cap block, 2 to 4 inches thick, 8 x 16 inches. — actually, it should be one cap block on each concrete block at the top of the stack… so, if there are two blocks, there should be two cap blocks.
On top of the cap block, you can lay any necessary hardwood shim. The top most layer of shim needs to be wedge shaped, and put 2 of them together so they make a level surface. There should NOT be more than 2 inches of wood. If you have more wood than that.. take it out and replace it with cement cap block.

The cement blocks and cap blocks you can purchase at any lumberyard, or building supply store. The hardwood shims, you will probably have to goto a mobile home parts supplier, or dealership. IF you have sawmills nearby, then you may be able to talk them into making some for you. Remember it must be hardwood shims.

Also — to meet most manufacturer’s requirements, the entry doors need to have perimeter blocks set within 4ft of the openings, and the closer the better, but they have to be under the wall, not under the doorway.

Now… if you meant perimeter blocks – then they just simply get placed under the edge of the mobile home… this is decorative, so you’re not usually constricted to any one method here. You can use a variety of styles, dry stack, mortar, surface mortar, etc. Or, you can use something entirely different, i.e vinyl skirting is quite common.

Remember the state inspector is there to make sure your home is set up safely…if the inspector has any suggestions, take them seriously, but realize, theyre not there to ‘nitpick’… they are there to make sure you will have a safe home to live in.

Help with making T-shirts. Silk screen ink?

Me and my family want to make our own shirts at home and we are looking for an inexpensive way to create images ( hand drawn ) and get them onto shirts using silk screen ink or something. help please!!

There are many ways to get “hand drawn images onto shirts” but only some of them involve the “silk screen” technique (usually called “screenprinting” because actual silk isn’t often used nowadays), AND of those there are many ways to get the image onto the screen, various sizes and complexities of the frame/screen set up from large to small makeshift screens inside flat matteboard frames, various inks/paints that can be used (for example, stencils and resists made from everything from paper to photo emulsions to “glue” type liquids), and even the number of colorants used can vary–from one to up to about 4.

Why don’t you check out the various boards (and sub-boards) at craftster.org to get an idea of all the kinds of things that are being done that are like that (from simple to complex) especially at a hobby level on t-shirts/etc? Most of the boards on this page would be things you might consider, including actual “screenprinting”:

Am looking into a job opportunity with this in your home portrait company. Anyone ever worked for them, or used their services? Any info appreciated.

My sister used this company for her Baby’s photos. She really liked it. A photographer called and scheduled an appointment and came and took the photos. About a week later another woman called to set an appointment to view the pictures. It appeared to be the same software that Sears uses, but the photos were much more creative and the retouching was much better. The artist/salesperson can only keep the photos on her laptop for a week so there was a lot of pressure to buy that day.

Model Pose Guide Question?

Ok, I am looking for an online pose guide for models. I just set up a studio in my home, and what I want to do is have a tv with a dvd player showing images of models posing, to help out any models I have in my studio. I tried googling it, but I could find really what I was looking for (just female models posing in a studio… not a whole lot of props, just a lot of different stuff going on with arms, legs, etc.)

One Model Place used to sell a DVD on shooting glamour and some tips on lighting.

In the end, the best way to learn this is to learn to “read” light and emulate the setups some of your favorite photographers use when shooting their models.

A good start would be to look at One Model Place and Model Mayhem for ideas

Amazon also has some excellent books on shooting in the studio as well as glamour photography ideas and discussion of various lighting modifiers

Putting Up A Photography Studio

Photographers can do photo shoots indoors or on location. Those who want this done in a controlled environment can do this in a studio. This is because the lighting can be adjusted if it is too dim or too bright to be able to get the perfect shot.

The challenging part a newcomer in the business is setting up shop. The big question will be buying a place or merely renting this first for a few months.

Those who can afford can rent a room that has the equipment ready. This includes the lights, the backgrounds, stage crew and assistants. When the business has been established, it is already the right time to think about expanding or buying a studio.

A lot of photographers start by doing this at home. The guest room can be converted into a studio. This makes it easy for the person to transfer some of the equipment should this shot on location.

Picture perfect images can only be achieved with proper lighting. There are two types to choose from that is either ceiling or floor based.

Ceiling based units can be moved using a railing system screwed on the ceiling. This is considered to be safe since there are no wires sticking out that could someone to trip on the floor.

Floor based units are usually lamps mounted on stands. These are affordable and are very easy to carry. The photographer should just make sure the wires are safely stowed to prevent accidents from occurring.

The camera is the most important tool for any photographer. Conventional models used by ordinary people are not able to do this so the individual should get the model that can provide the right width, brightness and size for each shot.

The photographer should drive around the city to be able to find a studio. The price of some may vary depending on the location. Many of these places can be found in the classified ads of newspapers, which will also vary according to size.

The right shot can never be always achieved using artificial light. Sometimes the brightness of the sun is the only way to make this happen so getting a studio that has either lots of windows or glass door will be a good idea.

It takes time before being able to be a good photographer. Aspiring people should work on a budget first before deciding to whether to convert a room, to rent or buy a studio.
